Question:

If you’re in  Professor Kris’ class you’re not allowed to switch.👀

Which of the following ingredients can make some buildings blush 👀

Answer:

Welcome back to Question 9 of Semester 3.

Today we asked you which of the following ingredients can make some buildings blush.

If you said B) limestone and tabby, you would be correct. You had two hints today: switch, referring to Switcha, a lime-based drink; and blush, referring to the colour pink. Let’s hear more about today’s answer from Professor Kris.

‘Historically, Bahamian buildings weren’t made from concrete as they are today. They were made from tabby: a durable mix of seashells, lime and other locally sourced materials.

The lime was sourced from limestone: the very rock that forms the foundation of every island in The Bahamas. When plaster was prepared for these buildings, it was mixed with lime and left to sit for days. A chemical reaction occurred, turning the mixture a pink hue.
The natural tint became a signature look for government buildings, blending tradition with the islands’ natural geology. So, that iconic pink isn’t just colour — it’s a piece of Bahamian heritage, born from the islands themselves.’

So, how did you do? How did your house do?

Thanks to CBS Prostore for today’s question. See you tomorrow for Question 10!
